Autograph Hell

For all you baseball fans out there gearing up for the start of a new season, here is a celebrity photograph from my collection you'll appreciate.   For those of you that don't recognize the photo, William "Buck" Showalter is an major league baseball manager for the Baltimore Orioles.  Showalter previously served in a similar capacity for the New York Yankees, Arizona Diamondbacks and Texas Rangers.  He was formerly a professional baseball player himself and a television analyst for ESPN.   A two-timeAmerican Leage Manager of the Year, Showalter Showalter has earned a reputation for building baseball teams into postseason contenders in short periods of time.   He helped the Yankees rise from the bottom half of the AL East to first place before a player's strike prematurely ended the 1994 campaign.  Under his watch, my favorite team the Arizona Diamondbacks made their first-ever playoff appearance in only its second year of existence....

Mary Jean "Lily" Tomlin is an actress, comedian, writer, and producer. Tomlin has been a major force in American comedy since the late 1960s when she began a career as a stand up comedian and became a featured performer on television's Laugh-in . Her career has spanned television, comedy recordings, Broadway, and motion pictures, enjoying acclaimed success in each medium. She has starred in such films as Nashville , Nine to Five , All of Me , The Beverly Hillbillies , Orange County , and I Heart Huckabees . Her notable television roles inclue Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In as a cast member, Ms. Frizzle on The Magic School Bus , Kay Carter-Shepley on Murphy Brown , and Deborah Fiderer on The West Wing . She currently stars as Lillie Mae on the ABC sitcom Malibu Country . He is best known for his use of cutting and sarcastic one liners. He first became famous in the 1990s as a cast member on Saturday Night Live and from 1997 until 2003 when he starred as Dennis Finch on Just Shoot Me! Drew Allison Carey is an American actor, comedian, sports executive, and game show host.   After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and making a name for himself in stand-up comedy, Carey eventually gained popularity starring on his own sitcom, The Drew Carey Show.   Carey has appeared in several films, television series, music videos, a made-for-television film, and a computer game. He has hosted the television game show The Price Is Right since 2007. Gary Busey is a film and stage actor and artist.  He has appeared in a variety of films most notably in the 1980s and 1990s in major action releases Lethal Weapon , Point Break and Under Siege .  Busey was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor in 1978 for his role in The Buddy Holly Story . Here is an autographed picture from when I met the beautiful actress and singer Bobbie Eakes.  Bobbie Eakes is known for her role as Macy Alexander on The Bold and the Beautiful and for her role as Krystal Carey on All My Children .  Eakes received bit roles on nighttime television series, such as Cheers , before becoming successful in the soap opera genre. In the mid-1980s, she was the lead singer of the dance-pop group Big Trouble. The group released one self-titled CD in 1987.   Their single "Crazy World" charted on the U.S. singles chart, reaching #71.  She was also featured on country music singer Collin Raye's 2000 single "Tired of Loving This Way", which peaked at #50 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts. Posting another picture from my collection, this one an autographed photo with clothing designer Tommy Hilfiger and I. At the age of 18 rather than furthering his education, he started to work in retail.  Hilfiger would go to New York City to buy jeans and bell-bottom pants, which he customized and resold at Brown's, a local downtown Elmira store. He later opened his own store, named The People's Place, around the block in downtown Elmira. Over the years, a number of stores closed in downtown Elmira as shopping traffic shifted to the new Arnot Mall in Horseheads, New York.   After seven years, The People's Place went bankrupt, when Hilfiger was 25.   After turning to the design of clothing by designing for the rest of his stores in upstate New York, Hilfiger moved to New York City with his wife Susie. Sharing another celebrity photo from my collection.  This is Barry Bonds and I.   Barry Lamar Bonds is a former American Major League Baseball outfielder. Bonds played from 1986 to 2007, for the Pittsburgh Pirates and San Francisco Giants.   He is the son of former major league All-Star Bobby Bonds.   He debuted in the Major Leagues with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1986 and joined the San Francisco Giants in 1993, where he stayed through 2007. Bonds' accomplishments during his baseball career place him among the greatest baseball players of all-time.    Bonds has led a controversial career, notably as a central figure in baseball's steroids scandal. Here is another photograph from my collection to share with you!  This picture features Raymond Allen "Ray" Liotta.  Born December 18, 1954 Ray Liotta is an actor, best known his portrayal of Henry Hill in the crime-drama Goodfellas , directed by Martin Scorsese and his role as Shoeless Joe Jackson in Field of Dreams .   He has won an Emmy Award and has been nominated for a Golden Globe Award.  He is also known for starring as the protagonist, Tommy Vercetti in the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City .

It is that day of the week again, where I share an autographed picture with you from my large collection!  Since we are in the middle of the presidential debates, I thought this picture would be fitting.  Here I am with George H. W. Bush, the 41st President of the United States. Here is a couple facts about President Bush - George Herbert Walker Bush previously served as the 43rd Vice President of the United States before becoming the president in 1989.  Following the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, Bush postponed going to college, enlisted in the US Navy on his 18th birthday, and became the youngest aviator in the Navy at the time.  He served until the end of the war, then attended Yale University.   Graduating in 1948, he moved his family to west Texas and entered the oil business, becoming a millionaire by the age of 40!  Do you have any photos with a President?  I would love to see!  Please feel free to share your photos...

  I'm sharing another picture today from my autograph collection!  This is when I met Deepak Chopra at one of his book signings.   Deepak Chopra is an physician and writer.  Chopra has written more than 65 books with 19 New York Times bestsellers. His books have been translated into 35 languages and sold more than 20 million copies worldwide. Chopra has received many awards, including the Humanitarian Starlite Award (2010), and the GOI Peace Award (2010). If you are like me, you've collected autographs for years and have built up quite a collection.  I have albums upon albums full of my coveted autographed pictures, and closets full of autographed books and memorabilia.  I love it.  I was recently asked what my most prized autograph is and I had to think about that for a while.  That is a hard question because each one has a story and is special in its own way.  I love my autographed picture with President Reagan but I also love my signed boxing gloves my Mohammed Ali!   Tell me what your most coveted autograph is!

Over the weekend I attended the Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Atlanta Braves baseball game with my wife Rose.  This game was a historical baseball event as it was Chipper Jones' last game as an Atlanta Brave in Chase Field. I was lucky enough to get to meet him and I hope the rest of his last season is as great as the game was at Chase Field! In 1990, I happened to meet Mr. Dick Clark in Hollywood.  Clark was well-known for his energetic on-air persona, and built a wealthy broadcasting career for himself over the span of a half a century in show biz.  What a great life. What a great career.  There is no doubt his presence will be missed.   Sending thoughts and prayers to the friends and family of Dick Clark.  I'm happy to have my own personal memory of him.
